Birmingham Community Matters

Do you run a community group in Birmingham or are you thinking of starting one?

Birmingham Community Matters (BCM) is a small charity supporting people with setting up and running community groups and projects in Birmingham.

BCM’s peer-to-peer network brings people together with the idea that Everyone has something to learn and everyone has something to teach.

BCM are holding a face-to-face ‘community group advice’ session at The Old Post Office in Stirchley on Tuesday 27 September, 6pm-7.30pm.

They would love to meet you if you run a community group or small charity in Birmingham, or are thinking of starting one.

BCM Helpers will be there at the event to work through any questions you have about (for example):

  • Starting a project

  • Structuring your group

  • Recruiting volunteers

  • Finding funding

  • Telling more people about what you do

  • Anything else you need to know.

They will have useful ideas or contacts to share with you - and we're sure they will learn something from you too.

BCM face-to-face sessions are always informal and friendly - and a great opportunity to meet other people involved in community activity in Birmingham.

Please sign up using Eventbrite so that BCM know you're coming.

On the sign up page BCM asks a few questions about your ideas and challenges so they know how best to support you on the day. Don't worry if you don't have all the answers yet - for example if you don't have a formal structure for your community group. We can talk you through the options when you come and visit.

********************************

Birmingham Community Matters is a small charity. Our funding and resources enable us to support emerging community and voluntary groups and small charities across only Birmingham, UK and its surrounding areas.

While we would love to help people far and wide, we will – regretfully – have to turn down bookings from CICs and social enterprises. This blog post gives more information about why we can't usually support CICs and who can.

Thanks to funding from the National Lottery's Reaching Communities Fund, and our BCM Helpers giving their time, this session is free for you to attend. If you register and then find you can no longer make the date, please tell us, so we can give your space to someone else: info@birminghamcommunitymatters.org.uk.

We hold your data in line with our privacy policy which you can read here.
